Senior Investment Accountant
Location: Twin Cities, MN

Our client, a prominent investment management firm, is seeking a Senior Investment Accountant to join their growing team. This dynamic role involves overseeing accounting and reporting processes for multiple investments and contributing to projects that optimize efficiency and compliance. You’ll also have the opportunity to provide work direction to a Senior Accountant and take the lead on key initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare moderately complex monthly and quarterly journal entries for investments across multiple legal entities.
- Produce detailed monthly and quarterly investment holdings reports.
- Oversee investment accounting processes for a variety of transactions.
- Assist senior leadership in implementing new accounting projects and standards by documenting procedures and establishing controls.
- Lead or participate in enterprise and team projects (e.g., new systems or processes).
- Offer work direction to a Senior Accountant on investment-related tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5 years of accounting experience with a solid understanding of financial instruments.
- Strong knowledge of investments, GAAP, and statutory accounting standards.
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to lead through change.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a “big picture” mindset.
- Advanced technical proficiency in Excel and data analytics tools.
- Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end process flows, systems, controls, and impacts across business lines.

Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Investment Management or Companies industry
- Proven expertise in Fund Accounting
- Solid knowledge of GAAP - STAT and US GAAP accounting principles
- Prior experience with Institutional Investment and Investment Funds
- Proficient in Financial Reporting
- Experienced in Statutory Financial Reporting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills
- Experience with accounting software and databases
