Overview
The Investment Accountant (IA) enters, reconciles, and reviews investment data, ensuring the timely and accurate reconciliation of custodial data in the firm’s investment accounting system. The IA works closely with others in the investment accounting group as well as other departments to prepare, review, and deliver reports and insights for internal and client use. The role requires accounting, critical thinking, organization, time management, and proactive communication.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Develop subject matter expertise in the firm’s investment accounting system.
- Reconcile investment accounting and general ledger data to custodial records.
- Retrieve, compare, investigate, and reconcile custodial records in the investment accounting system.
- Review and post transactions from the investment accounting system to the general ledger.
- Calculate and post market value entries.
- Ensure cost and market values are synchronized between investment accounting and general ledger.
- Troubleshoot and timely resolve reconciliation issues to meet deadlines.
- Participate in the client quarterly financial statement process to ensure timely and accurate deliverables, including:
- Processing and reconciling journal entries for financial reporting.
- Performing self or secondary review of client financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitoring workflows to identify and resolve issues and approvals to ensure accurate and timely distribution of data and reports.
- Identifying and resolving issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with the Investment Accounting Lead and others to ensure adequate cross training and procedures to provide backup or succession.
- Maintain user defined data, department views and reports in investment accounting system.
- Prepare and scan assigned accounting reports to document management system.
- Advance best-in-class accounting policies, processes, insights, and reporting.
- Lead or actively participate in department meetings, projects, and initiatives.
- Assist in the maintenance of calendars, performance indicators, workloads, workflows and other tools to effectively monitor and measure department performance and outcomes.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through self-initiated professional development.
Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business. Relevant professional certifications a plus (CPA, MBA, CFA).
- 2 years of demonstrated operations or accounting success in the financial, accounting, or professional services.
- Curious, goal oriented, and initiative-taking with a passion for leading transformative change.
- Strong financial and operational analytic and problems solving skills.
- Experience performing balance sheet and portfolio account reconciliations.
- Knowledge of traditional and alternative investments, accounting treatments, reconciliation, and systems (e.g., Clearwater, Caissa, Addepar, Advent, JD Edwards).
- Advance proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Experience with PowerBI or Tableau a plus.

- Ability to balance multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.

Working Conditions
The physical working conditions of this position include an office environment where sitting and working on a computer for extended periods of time are common.
Hybrid Work Environments
We operate a hybrid work environment. Employees are required to be in the office Wednesdays and a minimum of two other days per week, for a total of three days in office and two days remote. This work arrangement is subject to change at the discretion of Waycrosse.
