Senior Staff Accountant

Description

We are offering a contract as a Senior Staff Accountant located in McLean, Virginia (the role is fully remote however). This role primarily focuses on maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, and performing other accounting duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the preparation of end-of-month ledger entries and bank reconciliation statements
• Assisting with the reconciliation of accounts
• Maintaining prepaid and fixed asset schedules
• Preparation of vendor 1099s as needed
• Processing of customer payments and cash receipts
• Providing support for DCMA/DCAA and CPA audits
• Assisting with the preparation for Incurred Cost Submission
• Assisting with monthly and year-end closing
• Creating and uploading payroll journal entries into Costpoint
• Supporting Accounts Payable and Customer Billing processes as needed
• Interacting with other departments and supporting special projects as needed
• Responding to internal and external inquiries and seeking proper resolution
• Assisting the Controller in other accounting activities as required.
  
  

Requirements

• Possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of accounting.
• Proficient in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Demonstrated experience in performing bank reconciliations.
• Proficient in maintaining and managing the General Ledger.
• Skilled in creating and managing Journal Entries.
• Extensive experience in Month End Close procedures.
• Proficiency in using Deltek Costpoint is a must.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required.
• Familiarity with Form 1099 procedures.
• Ability to maintain and manage fixed assets.
• Proven experience in handling fixed assets is necessary.
• Familiarity with and ability to perform billing functions.
