Our manufacturing client in San Leandro is seeking an interim Sr. Cost Accountant for a 2 month engagement. The selected candidate will be a strategic partner to our operations team, tasked with providing balanced financial support and oversight. This role involves the comprehensive management of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) records and the development of innovative processes to enhance cross-functional collaboration. The role is hybrid and requires onsite work 3 days/week. The expected hourly rate is between $65-$75/hr.Responsibilities:• Collaborate with business owners to facilitate and support budget submissions, as well as month-end and year-end accounting close.• Work closely with Industrial Performance and Production Admin staff to collect accurate production line data and apply it in establishing standard routes.• Assist in the creation or enhancement of ERP SAP S/4HANA reports using BI and Evolve.• Aid in the reconciliation and closing of work orders weekly across all Business Units.• Contribute to the development of Cost of Goods with R& R.• Keep the monthly COGS Variances Report updated.• Present weekly production consumption variances and monthly summary of COGS variances to the Operations team.• Update the monthly KPI report and provide comments to the VP of Operations.• Initiate Cost Savings initiatives in Operations and Supply Chain.• Provide Operations with analytics to support daily data-driven business decisions.• Assist the FI Pillar in the development of operations financial reporting, the investigation of variances, root cause analyses, and the resolution of complex manufacturing issues.• Perform month-end close and forecasting tasks efficiently and effectively, collaborating with accounting and other cross-functional business partners.• Support the Supply Chain Finance with the Annual Budget for Direct Materials, Labor, and Overhead.• Develop accurate product costing for existing and new products and communicate risks and opportunities.• Understand all components of supply chain costs, including costs to manufacture, co-pack, co-manufacture, and distribute to customer.• Understand transactional flow of raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods, and identify gaps in the cycle count process, work order consumption, production receipts, and purchase receipts.• Work with Procurement, Planning, and Logistics to drive reductions in inventory.• Perform month-end variance analysis for management.• Influence Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership in the areas of business case analysis.
