What are the responsibilities and job description for the Institutional Analyst position at Robert W. Baird?
The Private Wealth Management (PWM) Institutional Consulting team engages with institutional clients with investable assets of $50M or more and serves as their portfolio consultant as well as their strategic financial partner. Conducts monthly/quarterly portfolio performance reviews and responds to client’s ad hoc requests. Provides support on products and services and directs various consulting projects.
The Institutional Analyst will ideally be based in either Charlotte, NC or Milwaukee, WI and partner with the PWM Institutional Consultants to drive service model consistency, client engagement, and support ICS’s strategic and growth initiatives.
- Assists the Investment Consultants with quantitative analysis and preparation of investment committee materials and quarterly reporting packages.
- Prepares RFP responses and maintains the accuracy of the RFP content library.
- Independently prepares or oversees the preparation of ongoing client reporting requirements.
- Responsible for the creation of pitchbooks and leads the team on the creation of marketing
- Direct interaction with senior level clients in servicing ongoing and ad hoc requests.
- Manage and enhance an array of reporting tools.
- Stay current with current Institutional Consulting trends and apply knowledge in maintaining and recommending enhancements to the current ICS service model.
- Assists in driving the ICS strategic and growth initiatives.
- Performs other duties and special projects as necessary.

- Must have an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent.
- An advanced degree or pursuing a specialized professional designation (CIMA or CFA) preferred.
- SIE, 7, 66 required and other licenses, as appropriate.
- Deep financial services industry and product knowledge.
- A strong technical skill set and adaptable skills across a variety of reporting platforms and desktop applications.
- Preferred experience with Morningstar Direct and other Market Data software applications.
- Demonstrated success at identifying operating efficiency opportunities and working cross functionally to implement improved procedures.
- Proven self-starter, the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks aligned with creating the best outcomes for clients and effectively manage conflicting deadlines.
- Possesses a very high client awareness and client satisfaction attitude.
- High attention to detail is a must.
- Excellent people/communication skills, self-motivated and a team player.
- 5 years’ experience in a high-level support position in the financial services industry.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
- Evidence of strong leadership skills or previous supervisory experience.
