Position Summary

The Accounting Manager supervises accounting staff to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This role is integral to maintain accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and supporting various departments with financial insights. A multitude of accounting activities include general ledger preparation, financial reporting, audits preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to drive process improvements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Manage accuracy and timing of the month-end, quarterly and year-end closing processes, including key account reconciliations and analysis, intercompany and adjusting entries.
  • Examine accounting information, trace discrepancies, and reconcile unusual variances. Review and verify transactions for proper classification/coding and make necessary corrections to ensure general ledger accuracy.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring record accuracy and maintaining workflow efficiency. Review all credit holds to mitigate risk and collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to resolve issues.
  • Assist in compiling necessary information for clean and timely external audits.
  • Ensure compliance reporting to federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Handle multi-currency transactions and record currency gains/losses accurately.
  • Collaborate with the other finance departments to support the overall Finance Organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Promptly responds to inquiries from Management regarding financial results, special reporting requests.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year. Monitor and advise on their progress to enhance the professional development of staff.

Required

Position Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Accounting
  • 5-7 years prior managerial experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area.

Preferred

  • CPA/MBA

Position Competencies

  • Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Proficient knowledge with Oracle and/or other large, automated accounting system a plus. Must have strong experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
