What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Nursing, RN position at ROBINSON NURSING & REHABILITATION?
We are seeking someone to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations that govern the facility, to ensure that quality care is promoted at all times. This position is a safety sensitive position as defined by applicable state law.
Qualifications:
Must be a registered Nurse in good standings and currently licensed by the state.
Experience in long-term care preferred.
Experience in management and/or geriatric nursing preferred.
Responsibilities:
Assuring resident safety.
Responsible for the day to day operation and management of the nursing department.
Implement nursing care policies and procedures.
Conduct periodic rounds of facility.
Regularly inspect the facility, nursing practices and documentation to improve quality of care.
Conduct interviews of applicants for the nursing department and make employment decisions for department, either alone or with input from Administrator.
Supervise nursing staff, including providing education and disciplinary action if necessary.
Complete performance evaluations for nursing staff.
Implement procedures for the administration and control of medication, and stocking of all nursing supplies and equipment.
Function as a liaison between the facility and state and federal agencies.
Meet daily with Administrator and department heads regarding admission, placement or discharge of residents and coordination of resident services.
Review all medication error reports and I and A reports. With appropriate staff, develop corrective action plan. Review reports such as dietary and pharmacy consultant reports.
Meet periodically with staff on each shift
Provide in-services to all shifts as necessary and required.
Is on call for emergencies that other supervisory personal can not handle.
Work closely with the administrator regarding the functions of the nursing department.
Ensure that a quality assurance committee meetings and other departmental meetings, including but limited to, daily stand up meeting.
Travel to occasional meetings, conventions, and seminars.
