Roca’s Intervention Model engages young people at the center of urban violence in an intensive four-year program to address trauma, teach life-saving cognitive-behavioral skills, and break the cycle of incarceration and poverty that traditional youth programs alone can’t break. And, because it takes all of us, Roca also helps institutions like police and state agencies change the way they work with young people who are traumatized and living at the intersection of gangs, drugs, poverty, violence, immigration challenges, and involvement with multiple public systems.
Position Overview:
The Assistant Director of Programming will report directly to the EVP of Women & 2Gen. This individual will work with Roca’s Young Women’s Teams across MA and in Hartford, CT to support program implementation to include program planning, overall model support, and onboarding/training as well as maximize teams understanding of efforts to outcomes and data. This individual will work be part of cross-organizational teams working on development and implementation of program and model enhancements. This position will also work with the EVP on special projects, partnerships, contracts and evaluation activities as needed.
Excellent leadership, coaching, communication, organizational and project management skills are essential.
Core Responsibilities:
Cross-Organizational Programming
- Support the EVP with programming oversight and fidelity across Young Women’s teams.
- In collaboration with the EVP and other cross-organization staff, support all program implementation and work with Young Women’s teams to ensure understanding of all aspects of the Roca Model.
- Collaborate with the EVP and managers to identify ongoing programming needs for sites and support and initiative program improvement plans as needed.
- Lead and support the integration of new programming projects across the Young Women’s Program to include project management, communication, implementation and training.
- Support Program Managers in developing quarterly program plans based on caseload analysis. Coach teams to maximize participant participation.
- Support the integration of technology in meaningful ways to enhance existing programming.
Quality Assurance and Model Fidelity
- Support continuous improvement and development of curriculum including quality and methodology for teaching in alignment with Roca’s Intervention Model.
- Research and align new curriculum and training as needed to on-going continuous learning/improvement., and review and revise existing programming curricula as needed.
- Oversee timely roll-out of new programming curricula and ensure quality implementation.
- Work on ongoing development and documentation of CBT practice activities, deepening of CBT skill-practices throughout all programming.
- Support and assure quality and effective integration/implementation of CBT in all Roca programming (incl. TEP, life skills, ed., pre-voc.)
- Support and assure fidelity to the intervention model in all Roca programming including reporting tools.
- Demonstrate and model:
- Ability to explain, apply, practice and demonstrate Roca’s Intervention Model, specifically Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT).
- Continual learning, demonstration, practice and skills improvement of Roca’s intervention model
- Ability to interpret ETO data as it relates to young people and understanding how data relates to a young person’s progress. The ability to adapt outreach efforts in accordance of data collected in ETO.
- Ability to provide additional types of educational/vocational/life skills programming, in person and virtually, e.g. educational classes, ServSafe, upgraded workforce professional skills, parenting, healthy habits, driver’s education, and/or the ability to help with job placement.
Other Responsibilities and Special Projects:
- Manage relationship and contract with MA Department of Transitional Assistance for Young Parent Program, including monthly reporting, coordination of site visits, meetings and presentations, relationship management, and working with managers to monitor contract deliverables.
- Provide oversight of developmental screening initiative for children ages 0-5, including creating user accounts in online system and working with managers to ensure screening completion.
- Oversee onboarding of new staff across Young Women’s Program sites.
- In collaboration with EVP, coordinate implementation of internal and external evaluation activities including but not limited to participant surveys, focus groups, and assessments.
Other duties as directed, and required by emerging and unexpected challenges, and organizational changes.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or related experience
- High-level understanding of CBT-based principles and practices
- Preferred: Understanding of various learning styles and experiential training practices.
- Required: 3-5 years of experience implementing direct services or project management within a direct service environment, with excellent performance record.
- Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish)
- 2-3 years learning and development experience preferred
- Must have a valid State Issued Driver’s License and current safe driving record
