The Project Sourcing Manager is responsible for ensuring all sourcing requests are executed in line with business strategy and priorities, as synthesized by the Business Partner, including preferred supplier arrangements and contracting requirements (associated statements of work, change orders, or similar documents). The Project Sourcing Manager works with the Business Partner to understand and translate requirements to supplier deliverables with associated acceptance criteria, and execute fit-for-purpose processes by applying appropriate methodologies, tools, and value levers to meet defined deadlines. The Project Sourcing Manager partners with stakeholders to ensure a robust and transparent evaluation and selection process is followed. To support end-to-end value delivery, the role collaborates closely with Business Partners and the Category Management teams to translate business requirements into robust sourcing strategies.
The Project Sourcing Manager acts as a key point of contact for Direct Procurement during the product development process within the scope of their responsibility. Through continuous improvement methodologies, this role delivers consistent business-relevant value through gaining operational efficiencies and driving optimal supplier performance. As part of the procurement process the role also collaborates with legal and / or contracting functions to support contracting activities such as the preparation and review of master agreements, statements of work, change orders, or similar documents.
The Project Sourcing Manager has knowledge of business enterprise tools (e.g. SAP) and the overall procurement process / methodology, such as documenting requirements, conducting analysis and negotiations, and communicating with stakeholders and suppliers. The role has a strong understanding of internal stakeholder functions and requirements, and effectively translates business needs into procurement requirements and actions. The Project Manager has deep knowledge of project management, the product development process, and Roche’s category and supplier management approach, and applies this expertise to project needs.
The Position
- Product Development milestones – Create all primary product development deliverables and obtain sign off for all Direct Procurement milestones in the Product Development Process. After project execution, ensure a smooth and efficient handover to the Procurement Operations teams, as applicable.
- Maintain information flows - Responsible for maintaining strong information flows back to the Category Management teams in the event of:
- High-value or non-standard requests (i.e. those not covered by guidelines).
- Opportunities to aggregate demand and generate additional leverage. - Manage sourcing process - Driving a fit-for-purpose sourcing process (RfIs, RfQs, RfPs) for the delivery of sourcing activity, incl. the application of eSourcing tools. Support the implementation of new processes, policies, and technologies.
- Collaborate with support functions - Collaborate on an as-needed basis with relevant business support functions (e.g. Accounts Payable) to drive operational efficiencies and maximum value-add to the business.
- Monitor targets and KPIs – Monitor contracts and defined targets and metrics therein, including ensuring both parties deliver on obligations, change process, dispute resolution, managing exits/transitions, etc.. Track and monitor these metrics where required, and resolve and escalate issues as they arise.
- Monitor and mitigate risk – Monitor the progress of projects and pro-actively identify and report any projected risks to overall targets or timelines as well as potential mitigation strategies. Resolve issues and project risks on a timely basis and escalate issues and risks where appropriate
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) - Support CSR initiatives related to (candidate) suppliers, e.g. supplier diversity, anti-bribery, animal welfare, etc.

- Training – Perform continuous professional development activities and ensure up to date training in processes and systems relevant to position.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s Degree, with ((Biology, Engineering, or business-related preferably)
- Business level fluency in English.
- Expert negotiation skills (with both internal and external stakeholders), including integrative negotiation approaches that yield value-generating outcomes; skilled at architecting and memorializing terms into contractual agreements.
- 10 years procurement experience with particular focus in medical device and/or software development; demonstrates strong technical and business acumen.
- Mastery of complex end-to-end sourcing events.
- Strong financial acumen; able to analyze complex data sets
- Strong skills and capabilities in Project Management methodologies and tools
- Knowledgeable in systems and processes for efficient management of contract documentation, templates and processing tools (e.g. eSourcing, eAuction).
- Expert communication and influencing skills and demonstrated mastery of translating business requirements into supplier deliverables, service levels and acceptance criteria with customer service in mind.
- High emotional intelligence and collaborative, customer-oriented mindset
Desired
- Postgraduate business related qualification.
- Documented international and diverse Strategic Sourcing or Project Management experience.
- Experience in operational excellence or continuous improvement methodologies
- Professional purchasing (e.g. CIPS, ISM) or Finance related licenses or certifications.
- Experience with enterprise systems and procure-to-pay tools and eSourcing tools.
- Competence or fluency in other region-specific languages is strongly encouraged.
Travel Requirements
As needed. Potential for up to 10% of travel within the US. May have international travel on project specific assignments.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Tucson, AZ is $ 99,500.00 - 184,900.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
