SCHOOL COUNSELOR
Rochester Beacon Academy is seeking a full time school counselor for the 2025-2026 school year.
Rochester Beacon Academy (RBA) is a 6th-12th grade charter school that places a strong emphasis on providing individualized attention to students. The school has small class sizes, allowing teachers to provide students with focused and personalized instruction. RBA also has a special focus on serving students with special education needs, with close to 80% of the student body receiving such services. The administration and staff are dedicated to providing these students with the support and resources they need to succeed in school and beyond. Your job responsibilities includes but are not limited to:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address academic, personal, and social issues.
- Develop and implement comprehensive school counseling programs that promote student success.
- Assist students with academic planning, goal setting, and career exploration.
- Identify students who require additional support and provide appropriate interventions or referrals.
- Work closely with parents, teachers, and school staff to support student well-being and address behavioral concerns.
- Conduct assessments to identify learning difficulties, emotional concerns, and social challenges.
- Educate students on important topics such as conflict resolution, bullying prevention, stress management, and mental health awareness.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all counseling practices.
- Facilitate crisis intervention and provide emotional support in emergencies.
- Coordinate and collaborate with external agencies and mental health professionals as needed.
- Participate in professional development and stay updated on best practices in school counseling.
Qualifications:
- Degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- State certification/licensure as a school counselor.
- Previous experience in a school setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development, counseling techniques, and educational systems.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and patient approach to student concerns.
Pay: $48,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year depending on experience and qualifications
