Overview
The Rochester Downtown Development Corporation (RDDC) is seeking a driven and collaborative contributor to support growth, foster partnerships, and boost the revitalization of downtown Rochester. Since 1977, RDDC’s mission has been to drive economic vitality downtown, fostering a vibrant, inclusive community through transformative ideas and initiatives. As Economic Development and Partnerships Manager, you will play a key role in reviving downtown Rochester. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for the heart of the Greater Rochester region, an understanding of local business and real estate, experience completing complicated projects in a diverse stakeholder setting, and an ability to effectively convey complex material in a compelling fashion.
Responsibilities
Economic Development Strategy:
• Lead efforts to attract and retain key businesses, contributing to a thriving downtown economy.
• Manage recruitment of neighborhood-serving retail and promotion and occupancy of vacant retail and office spaces.
• Identify and support new leasing activity. Providing promotional materials and assistance to leasing teams to enhance downtown’s commercial and residential vibrancy.
Data Gathering and Analysis:
• Collect, analyze, and manage market data, including but not limited to net absorption, occupancy, and rental rates for office, retail, and residential in downtown Rochester.
• Provide actionable insights and reports to inform business development and activation strategies.
• Share relevant data with local businesses and other key stakeholders to support informed decision-making, strategic planning, and growth.
Small Business Support:
• Connect small and local businesses with resources such as grants, networking platforms, and technical support as needed.
• Facilitate collaboration among small and local businesses to address shared challenges and identify solutions.
Partnerships and Collaboration:
• Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, nonprofits, public officials, and community organizations to drive forward effective attraction and retention efforts, small and local business support, and program development.
• Assist in securing funding through grants and sponsorships to support downtown initiatives.
Promotion and Storytelling:
• Highlight stories of small and local business successes to inspire community support and engagement.
• Work with the RDDC marketing team to amplify business achievements through campaigns and events.
Community Engagement:
• Organize forums, workshops, and events that engage businesses and residents in downtown economic initiatives.
• Act as a liaison between businesses and broader community projects to ensure alignment and collaboration.
