Detailed Job Description
The School of Chemistry and Materials Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology invites applications for a Lecturer position to begin August 13th, 2025. The chosen candidate should possess the education, skills, and experience to teach primarily Analytical Chemistry labs with the ability to teach General Chemistry (lecture or labs). The School of Chemistry and Materials Science values innovative pedagogy and active learning activities both in the classroom and the associated laboratory. The successful candidate should be able to engage students through personalized pedagogy to be active participants in their learning, help the students build confidence in their intellectual abilities, and develop alternate strategies to help students grasp the material.

Department/College Description
The School of Chemistry & Materials Science offers undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry, as well as Master's degrees in Chemistry and Materials Science & Engineering. The school currently has 21 faculty members and supports approximately 150 BS Chemistry and Biochemistry majors and 30 MS students in Chemistry and Materials Science & Engineering. Required Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
- PhD in Chemistry
- At least one year teaching at the university level
- Laboratory assistant/TA experience included
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; collaboration and facilitation skills; strategic problem solving, assessment and decision making skills
- Chemistry dissertation with strong skills in Analytical and General Chemistry
- Working with various individuals, including working independently and as a member of a team; working autonomously with minimal guidance
