Rochester Midland Corporation, a leading manufacturer and global supplier of specialty chemicals for boiler, cooling and wastewater treatment is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician for its Food & Beverage Division to cover accounts in southern NY, NJ, LI, East PA & MD. The ideal candidate will be located in the Camden, NJ vicinity. The Field Service Technician provides an advanced level of service and consultation to all contracted Food Safety accounts. This position performs advanced troubleshooting and consultation, while maintaining best in class quality standards and delivers our value proposition to the customer and ensures an outstanding experience with RMC service programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide in-depth advice on customer applications and make recommendations for improving existing treatment programs
- Schedule and perform service routes in accordance with the Division’s Minimum Service Standards
- Perform industrial waste-water systems services
- Perform advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting including the use of remote monitoring technology
- Service, mechanical installation and repair of pumps and proportioners
- Ensure an environment of total security by full adherence to policies, procedures, and better working practices in conjunction with Environmental Health & Safety Department
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems driving poor results and customer complaints
- Perform rigorous collection, consolidation, logging and distribution of field data
- Develop positive relationships by maintaining continuous contact with accounts to promote products
- Deliver customer technical training as required
- Identify potential business opportunities and transfers to sales
- Handle and install various chemical dispensing and application equipment
- Handle and apply treatment products in an environmentally safe manner
- Perform analyses and evaluation of treatment programs to determine product effectiveness
- Routinely troubleshoot for problem/solution identification
- Install and repair all chemical feed, dispensing, application and control equipment
- Provide service reports on status of existing programs at each account
- Perform chemical cleaning and power washing of customer equipment
- Properly maintain all Company-owned equipment e.g. tools, instruments, safety equipment and vehicle
- Complete all administrative requirements including basic skills/safety training courses
- Order inventory and supplies required to perform services
EDUCATION/ SPECIAL LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Science required (or equivalent experience).
- Valid driver’s license (clean driving record)
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance, sanitation, water treatment and/or food plant industry related experience required
- Basic plumbing and electrical understanding
- Knowledge of food, practices, and terminology
SKILLS:
- Mechanical, plumbing and electrical skills
- Competent use of tools & safety equipment
- Chemical testing & interpretation
- Expert level understanding of water treatment, cooling towers, and heating systems
- Computer skills including e-mail, Word, and Excel
- Experience in maintenance and repairs – CIP, plumbing and electrical experience
