Essential Job Functions
- Develops objectives for the Company’s Food Safety Group in conformance with overall Company direction; designs strategies to reach desired goals expressed in terms of comprehensive short- and long-range goals.
- Organizes and manages assigned functions to achieve stated objectives; periodically reviews those functions in terms of their effectiveness and makes recommendations, as appropriate.
- Develops and administers policies, procedures, and programs for the Food Safety Group.
- Scope of responsibility includes Food Safety Group in the US and Canada.
- Drives corporate account strategies and development.
- Participates directly in contacts with key customer accounts. Provides leadership and support to sales and service representatives, customers, and managers to assure customer needs meet or exceed expectations.
- Continuously reviews and plots trends for sales and marketing performance, including regional, product, customer, and individual sales representative; prepares monthly summaries.
- Meets with suppliers to keep apprised of the latest industry developments.
- Works with personnel in the field, as well as from Research and Development Department, to create products with enhanced competitiveness for the existing markets.
- Reviews product performance, including pricing and sales statistics, to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
- Ensures preparation of Food Safety budget and control of related expenses, exercising sound fiscal management.
- Selects and develops personnel to staff assigned positions; evaluates subordinates’ performance and recommends compensation changes designed to ensure the attraction, retention, and motivation of qualified personnel.
- Other responsibilities as required or assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in chemistry or a science field; MBA preferred
- 10-15 years performing duties involving sales, technical support, and higher-level management in the chemical or related industry to include supervision of sales, non-sales, and technical personnel
- Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of Food Safety
