SUMMARY
The Supervisor, Laboratory Operations is responsible for the overall functioning of site laboratory operations and assumption of essential managerial duties in the absence of department supervisors/managers. Responsible for after hours Client Service/Patient Service functions and for review of reference laboratory results.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and is accountable for laboratory operations.
- Responsible for the overall functioning of site laboratory operations and assumption of essential managerial duties in the absence of department supervisors/managers.
- Responsible for delegating additional responsibilities to department supervisors as needed.
- Ensures adequate staffing levels.
- Approves subsequent changes to the schedule and communicates changes to appropriate individuals in the absence of department supervisors/managers.
- Supervises and coordinates the activities of personnel, as needed, to efficiently handle the day-to-day workload.
- Recognizes the need for and assumes bench responsibilities as approved by the department manager in the case of staffing shortage.
- Communicates and enforces company policies and procedures.
- Monitors the overall performance of employees.
- Contributes on annual and interim performance evaluations.
- Assists department supervisors/managers with disciplinary actions as needed.
- Assumes responsibility for daily channeling of operational information to the Technical Director or appropriate department manager.
- Responsible for after hours Client Service/Patient Service functions
- Communicates with external customers when presented with problems or requests.
- Reports external customer issues to the appropriate department manager/supervisor.
- Responsible for review of reference laboratory results.
- Responsible for monitoring of building operations and security.
- Communicates pertinent information to the Building Services Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BS, MT (ASCP) or equivalent where regulations stipulate is required.
- Six years experience in related discipline required.
- New York State Department of Education Licensure required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Certificate in clinical laboratory specialty by a National Certification Agency or a Masters Degree in a clinically related field preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- CLT - Clinical Laboratory Technologist - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
PAY RANGE: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00
Salary : $90,000 - $115,000
