Career Services Advisor- Comprehensive Assessment and Skill Development
Full time - $42,900-$47,775 annually
Role Description
Provides career counseling and comprehensive assessment services to prepare customers to enter employment or training and provides training services to eligible customers. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, empathy and be able to effectively communicate with customers in order to build rapport and trust.
Major Responsibilities
- Guides customers through the career exploration process; evaluates abilities, interests, and personality characteristics using tests, assessment tools, interviews, and professional sources.
- Provides information on Trade act, training, education, and community resources and provides guidance on selection of training and academic programs; writes and manages waivers, vouchers, and training accounts for eligible customers.
- Works with customers to develop a comprehensive employment plan in preparation for employment and training.
- Provides advice and guidance to job seekers regarding the job search process and occupational choices in the context of local labor market.
- Assesses customers for program and service eligibility and ensures customers are registered for appropriate program (WIOA Adult/Dislocated Worker, Veterans, etc.).
- Validates data elements required for applicable program and registration level and documents appropriately in the One Stop Operating System (OSOS.)
- Documents services provided to customers in OSOS.
- Provides ongoing case management and follow-up services to Trade Adjustment Act and training customers including obtaining certification of completion post-training.
- Maintains accurate and thorough customer file records.
- Participates in outreach activities, employer recruitment events and job fairs.
- Collaborates with RochesterWorks’ system partners and community agencies to deliver services and make appropriate referrals for employment support services and training services.
- Stays current regarding occupational, educational, and labor market information to assist customers in determining and carrying out vocational and educational objectives.
- Works with staff and management as a team to meet enrollment, expenditure, employment, retention, earnings, and credential performance goals.
- Assists in special projects and other duties as required.
Qualifications
- An Associate’s degree with two years related experience. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Experience in working with diverse populations in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding verbal and written communications and organization skills.
- Ability and extremely flexible to work in various departments of the organization as needed.
- Develop effective working relationships and work well as part of a team to achieve organizational goals.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to complete paperwork and data maintenance in a timely fashion.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Knowledgeable regarding local occupational, educational, and labor market information.
