Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the food industry, particularly in sushi preparation and presentation. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards while ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
Duties
- Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, using fresh ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and sushi bar area.
- Ensure all food handling and safety regulations are followed to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
- Assist in menu development by offering creative ideas for new sushi items.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting with guests and accommodating special requests.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within the food service industry.
- Strong knowledge of food handling practices and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with various sushi-making techniques and ingredients.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in meal presentation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- A culinary degree or certification is preferred but not required.
- Experience in catering or dietary department settings is a plus.
