Position Overview:
Rock The Dock, a premier dueling piano bar on the Crystal Coast, is seeking a motivated and adaptable Bar Manager to lead the bar team and oversee all aspects of beverage service. This role will collaborate closely with the Venue Operations & Development Manager and Bartender team, ensuring that the bar runs smoothly, efficiently, and contributes to the dynamic, music-infused atmosphere that defines our venue. The Bar Manager will be responsible for maintaining high-quality service, developing the drink menu, managing inventory, and supporting the growth and development of the team. This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for someone with experience in high-energy environments who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
Responsibilities:
- Bar Operations Leadership: Oversee day-to-day bar operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service that aligns with the venue’s high standards.
- Shift Leadership: Oversee shift opening and closing duties, ensuring that the bar is fully stocked, organized, and prepared for operation each day. Manage shift schedules, balancing staffing levels to meet demand while maintaining high service standards.
- Team Management & Development: Lead, train, and mentor the bar team, ensuring they understand operational procedures and uphold the venue’s culture of excellence. Foster a positive work environment focused on collaboration, accountability, and skill development.
- Beverage Menu Development: Work closely with the Venue Operations & Development Manager and culinary team to develop, implement, and refine the drink menu. Stay current on beverage trends and continuously improve the quality and creativity of offerings.
- Inventory Management: Oversee bar inventory, order supplies, and track usage to ensure stock levels are maintained and costs are kept within budget. Implement a regular inventory auditing process and ensure items are well-stocked to avoid service interruptions.
- Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with the Venue Operations & Development Manager to ensure that beverage service is seamlessly coordinated with food service and live entertainment. Ensure that the bar area supports the energy of the performances and complements the guest experience.
- Guest Interaction: Set the standard for customer interaction by fostering relationships with regular patrons and creating memorable experiences for guests. Ensure that all team members deliver exceptional service and engage guests effectively.
- Compliance & Safety: Enforce alcohol service laws, ensuring compliance with state regulations regarding age verification, responsible drinking, and overall safety. Work with the Venue Manager to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor bar performance, track sales, and implement strategies to optimize revenue. Work with ownership and the Venue Operations Manager to forecast beverage sales, manage budgets, and identify opportunities for cost reduction or revenue enhancement.
- Event Support: Participate in planning and execution of special events, including coordinating beverage offerings for themed nights, private parties, or live performances. Ensure the bar team is prepared for high-demand service during peak times.
- Equipment Management & Maintenance: Ensure all bar equipment is in proper working order and coordinate with maintenance staff for repairs or replacements as necessary. Ensure all bar tools and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained to meet safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 1 years of experience in bar/restaurant management and/or leadership role within industry.
- Leadership: Proven leadership and team management experience including scheduling, hiring, firing, and floor management during peak service times/days.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to collaborate across departments and provide constructive feedback to staff.
- Beverage Knowledge: Expertise in beverage preparation, menu development, and cocktail techniques. Knowledge of industry trends and an ability to create innovative drink offerings.
- Inventory Management: Strong experience in inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and maintaining supplies, with a focus on cost control and waste reduction.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.
- Valid NC driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to stand for long periods, reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
