    Job Summary: The Human Services Coordinator will collaborate with the divisional dean, faculty, staff and external stakeholders in the development and continuous review of the Human Services program to ensure alignment with the Council for Standards in Human Services Education. The Human Services Coordinator will play a significant role in co-leading the self-study process for the Council for Standards in Human Services accreditation and in facilitating the activities of the Human Services Advisory Committee. The Human Services Coordinator will be expected to manage the day-to-day functions of the Human Services program with emphasis on special program elements to ensure effective delivery of project objectives and deliverables related to overall student support and academic progress. The Human Services Coordinator will serve as an instructor during the fall, spring, winterim and/or summer semester and will be expected to teach up to 15 credit hours in an academic year. The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the minimum qualifications and possess professional experience in the human services field or a related field. The ideal candidate must be able to complete essential duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate must also possess a deep understanding and commitment to ensuring that the principles of cultural excellence and belonging are appropriately infused in the human service students’ learning and professionalization experiences.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following:
    • Teach Human Services related courses, which includes developing and delivering lectures, assessing student learning and other related instructional duties and responsibilities.
    • Serve as the key point of contact for the Human Services program for internal and external stakeholders at main campus and downtown campus.
    • Serve as a content specialist in the development of curriculum and programmatic changes.
    • Assist with curriculum development aligned with the Council for Standards in Human Services Education and curriculum initiatives at Rock Valley College.
    • Co-Lead the self-study and program of study processes that leads to the accreditation and reaccreditation for the Council for Standards in Human Services Education.
    • Effectively collaborate with internal (Dean, Academic Chairs, Faculty and Staff) and external stakeholders (Human Services Advisory Committee, etc.) on an ongoing basis to strengthen the Human Services Program that serves the needs of the region.
    • Compose grant reports and assist with maintaining the budget and fiscal oversight of the Human Services Program.
    • Complete ongoing internal and external training for teaching online, in person and in a hybrid, setting using the college’s learning management system.
    • Tracking student academic progress and training milestones for all students enrolled in the Human Services program.
    • Place students in internships for completion of fieldwork requirements.
    • Actively engage students (mail, 1:1 meetings, small group/large group, webinars and classroom virtually and in person) on a continuous basis to aid with institutional aid/grant/scholarship opportunities, credit for prior learning, course registration, and serve as a student support resource/advocate/mentor to help students access internal/external supports and professional development opportunities.
    • Effectively utilize Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, etc.) and other applications used for effective communication and documentation purposes.
    • Provide complete, accurate, and timely information to the Dean.
    • Be available to meet with the Dean, Academic Chairs, Faculty and Staff on an ongoing basis to provide updates and programmatic developments.
    • Document weekly and monthly job-related activities.
    • Serve as a representative at college meetings, professional meetings, seminars and workshops.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities related to human services, provided by the Council for Standards in Human Services Education, the National Organization for Human Services and/or other professional organizations.
    • Facilitate activities with the Human Services Advisory Committee.
    • Actively recruit students into the Human Services program.
    • Develop and attend open houses, information sessions and professional development opportunities for information sharing and recruitment purposes.
    • Stay abreast of developments in the Human Services field.
    • Regular attendance is expected; some evening and weekend hours may be required.
    • Travel to various locations for meetings and events.
    • Related duties will be assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Earned master’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field required
    • Three years or more of direct experience in the field required.
    • Professional and/or community-based experience that reflects a deep understanding and commitment to cultural excellence and belonging along with the ability to effectively work with diverse faculty, students, staff, and community partners.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Professional certification or licensure for counseling.
    • Experience teaching or working in a higher education or community college setting.
    • Program management experience.

    Work Environment:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. There may be opportunities for remote work.
