Technical Program Manager
The Technical Software Program Manager (TPM) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing technical programs that span multiple teams and disciplines. This role focuses on driving the successful delivery of technology-driven projects by managing timelines, aligning stakeholders, mitigating risks, and ensuring that program objectives meet business goals. The TPM works closely with engineering, product management, operations, and leadership to ensure smooth execution and delivery of key initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Planning & Execution: Develop and manage program roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business priorities and technical feasibility.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product management, and operations teams to coordinate dependencies and streamline execution.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and proactively develop mitigation plans to minimize impact on program deliverables.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for program updates, providing clear and concise status reports to leadership and stakeholders.
- Agile & Process Optimization: Implement and refine Agile methodologies to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness in program execution.
- Resource & Budget Management: Work with leadership to allocate resources effectively and track program costs to ensure financial accountability.
- Technical Understanding: Leverage a solid technical foundation to communicate effectively with engineering teams and understand key architectural decisions.
- Issue Resolution: Drive problem resolution by facilitating discussions, removing roadblocks, and ensuring teams stay on track to meet deadlines.
- Metrics & Reporting: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure program success and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Master s degree preferred but not required.
- Experience:
- 3 years of experience in technical program management, business intelligence analytical programming, software development, or engineering project management.
- Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional technical programs with multiple stakeholders.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), infrastructure, and cloud technologies.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
- Proficiency in program management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Smartsheet.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure) and DevOps practices is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across different functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to drive program success.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
