Duties
- Verify insurance coverage for new and existing patients timely.
- Communicate with patients and/or families regarding patient responsibilities
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve coverage issues.
- Accurately enter insurance information into the hospital's billing system to ensure timely claims filing.
- Collaborate with the admissions team to ensure all necessary documentation is complete.
- Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries and provide clear explanations of coverage and benefits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Other duties assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher preferred.
- Previous experience in insurance verification, medical billing, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of insurance policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of behavioral health terminology and services is a plus.
