ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate in-season and out-of-season practice/conditioning opportunities for students.
Develop cohesive coaching relationships that work to develop all athletes.
Teach and instruct all aspects of Softball, while working to develop and emphasize positive sportsmanship.
Provide coaching, encouragement, and instructional guidance to all athletes & staff in the program.
Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
Must possess knowledge of the rules and regulations, and rules regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, school administrators, parents, and the community.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as guidelines, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees of the organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises.
Assesses players’ skills and monitors players during competition and practice.
Determines game strategy.
Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
Models sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate behavior towards players, officials, colleagues, parents, and spectators.
Maintains the equipment and storage and assumes responsibility for its security.
Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students.
Submits a list of award winners to the athletic director at the end of the season.
Participates in special activities, such as parent's night, banquets, award nights, pep assemblies, parades, and community events.
Maintains and distributes up-to-date rosters, eligibility information, emergency data, and other related records.
Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Attends clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
Availability to coach during summers and vacation periods.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust/focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.
Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing in the English language, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, and compile and negotiate.
