What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Coordinator position at Rockford Rescue Mission?
What is Development? Good question! This is the most important aspect of a non-profit organization! You are on a team that relates to the donor's that give so generously and interact with them and their needs. You would be the coordinator for the department. You will also coordinate with all of our volunteers here at Rockford Rescue Mission where we truly work to share hope and help in the name of Jesus to move people from homelessness and despair toward personal and spiritual wholeness. This is life giving work!
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide administrative support to the Development Department. Effectively help manage development operations. Complete project-based work assigned by Development leadership.
GENERAL OFFICE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize the scheduling of Development meetings and events.
- Maintain and update electronic and paper filing systems.
- Handle daily communication for Development Department Leadership.
- Interact professionally with organizational staff, executives, guests/residents, vendors and visitors.
- Open, sort and deliver paper and electronic communication.
- Capture meeting minutes and distribute as needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
DONOR PROCESSING
- Assist in all aspects of administration duties related to donor processing, donor relations and volunteers.
- Assist with donor processing and acknowledgement of all contributions.
- Assist with thank you calls and cards to donors.
- Help maintain the integrity of the donor database and mailing list, including address changes and the mailing process.
VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES
- At the direction of the Volunteer Supervisor, assist with recruitment, pre- screening, interviewing, training and supporting volunteers.
- Assist with volunteer database and ongoing file maintenance.
- Assist with special events on request.
SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take every opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others.
- Provide spiritual encouragement to staff, volunteers, guests and residents.
- Invest in the spiritual development of staff, guests, residents, and donors.
- Pray for and with staff, volunteers, guests, residents, and donors.
- Ensure actions and policies reflect the Christian values and purpose of the Mission.
- Handle relational conflicts according to the Staff Covenant of Romans 12:18 and Matthew 18:15-19
- Memorize monthly Scripture, Mission Statement, and Mission Core Values.
- Participate in corporate prayer and Scripture reading, staff chapel services, and all spiritual gatherings.
- Support and attend annual mandatory Evangelism In Service training to grow in knowledge of leading others to faith in Christ.
- Participate in annual spiritual growth training through organization selected curriculum
QUALIFICATIONS
- Organizational skills with minimum requirement High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Computer abilities including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and database and scheduling software
- Compassion toward the poor, needy, and homeless. Display respect, gentleness, and accountability when interacting with guests/residents ensuring the safety, health and well-being of all of our employees, volunteers and Mission guests.
