Rockford Rescue Mission is seeking a passionate and organized Volunteer Supervisor to join our team and play a vital role in our mission to share hope and help in Jesus’name to move people from homelessness and despair toward personal and spiritual wholeness. You will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing our dedicated volunteers, ensuring a positive and productive experience for all.
Position Summary:
The Volunteer Supervisor will oversee all aspects of volunteer engagement, from recruitment and onboarding to training, scheduling, and recognition. This role requires excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, along with a genuine passion for working with volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Develop and implement effective volunteer recruitment strategies.
- Screen and interview potential volunteers.
- Conduct thorough onboarding and orientation sessions.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records.
- Training & Development:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive volunteer training programs.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers.
- Identify and address volunteer training needs.
- Scheduling & Management:
- Create and manage volunteer schedules.
- Coordinate volunteer assignments and ensure adequate coverage.
- Monitor volunteer performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Respond to volunteer inquiries and resolve issues.
- Recognition & Retention:
- Develop and implement volunteer recognition programs.
- Foster a positive and supportive volunteer environment.
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers.
- Track volunteer hours and contributions.
- Program Support:
- Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of volunteer-related policies and procedures.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of volunteer programs.
- Maintain and update volunteer related documentation.
- Community Outreach:
- Represent the organization at volunteer fairs and community events.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in volunteer management or a related field.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and volunteer management software.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Passion for the mission of Rockford Rescue Mission.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the nonprofit sector.
- Knowledge of volunteer management best practices.
Spiritual Responsibilities:
- Take every opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others.
- Pray for and with donors, volunteers, guests, residents, and staff.
- Provide spiritual encouragement to staff, volunteers, guests, residents, and donors.
- Invest in the spiritual development of donors, volunteers, staff, guests, and residents.
- Ensure actions and policies reflect the Christian values and purpose of the Mission.
- Handle relational conflicts according to the Staff Covenant of Romans 12:18 and Matthew 18:15-19.

Participate in corporate prayer and Scripture reading, staff chapel services, and all spiritual gatherings.

Support and attend annual mandatory Evangelism In Service training to grow in knowledge of leading others to faith in Christ.
