Rockhurst University is seeking a motivated and inspiring higher education professional to fill the position of Associate Director of Residence Life & Coordinator of Conference Services. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Student Development, this position is responsible for strategy development, marketing, and coordination of Conference Services. Additionally, this position supervises the overall operation of an assigned residential area (upperclass housing) including staff supervision, program planning and implementation, and community development. This position collaborates with the Associate Vice President and other University administrators to serve as the primary conduct officer for all reports of inappropriate student behavior, and assists in the management of student crisis situations. In the absence of the Associate Vice President, this professional is the designated leader for the Residence Life program.
Primary duties of the position include the following:
- Market for new business, negotiate contracts, schedule use of rooms and meeting spaces on campus, collaborate with representatives of conference groups to identify event and guest needs, and develop conference plans that integrate delivery of the full complement of Conference Services.
- Day to day management of the University judicial process including proactive code of conduct education, advising hearing boards, Cleary Act data management, and assigned tasks as needed.
- Actively engage in and support Residence Life functions such as staff selection, training, supervision, crisis response, oversight of hall front desk operations, and student employment hiring.
Requirements for this position:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or a related field of student development.
- Minimum of two years of experience in Residence Life or a related field.
- Experience in major event planning and management, preferably with university conferences.
- Experience in marketing, business communications, and negotiations.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing residential education programs.
- Demonstrated experience in student leadership development and advising students.
- Experience in Code of Conduct investigating and education.
- Supervisory experience with demonstrated staff management and leadership skills preferred.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Ability to work periodic evening, overnight and weekend hours and to travel for occasional conferences and recruitment trips.
- Ability to manage on-call responsibilities.
