Rockhurst University and the St. Luke’s College of Nursing and Health Science are seeking applications for the Nursing Assistant Professor and Practicum Coordinator position. This position will serve as the MSN practicum coordinator and an MSN faculty member in the School of Nursing, providing support for practicum tracking, placement, and completion, as well as teaching courses in the MSN program based on expertise and educational experience. This is an 11-month, non-tenure track position.
The School of Nursing is in one of two academic schools housed in Saint Luke’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The College of Nursing is known for its innovative teaching using a broad range of active learning experiences, close faculty-student interactions, and our strong mission focused on service, advocacy, and leadership. The faculty have established close relationships with many community partners, enabling community-based service learning for students and clinical practice opportunities for students and faculty. Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with external partners to facilitate MSN student practicum placements.
- Track completed practicum hours and communicate with students about practicum requirements.
- Review placements for accuracy and approve appropriate sites and preceptors.
- Prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course and lesson plans, and engage in the selection of textbook and other teaching aids necessary to the instruction of courses.
- Conduct course instruction for one or more courses in the curriculum at the higher education level utilizing diverse teaching strategies.
- Teach pertinent course subject matter using lectures, demonstrations, class discussions, and other appropriate modes of educational delivery in the face-to- face, online, and/or hybrid environment.
- Lead and monitor course instruction that promotes educational and learning processes keeping with faculty academic freedom and responsibility.
- Participate in co-curricular activities such as department colloquia.
- Provide service to the program, college, university and/or other constituents commensurate of one’s rank, through committee involvement and/or leadership.
- Pursue on an ongoing basis the continuance of scholarly growth, both within and outside the subject discipline, in the academic profession.
- Serve as an academic advisor/mentor to students, and foster students’ personal and professional development.
- Submit student progress reports to program director and Advisor and discusses any student needs that may require directed attention or remediation plans.
This position requires that the incumbent be an effective time manager and have strong technology skills. The position is responsible for maintenance of data in multiple electronic systems and that data must be maintained in an accurate and timely fashion.

Position Requirements:
- MSN with APRN national certification (FNP, AGACNP, and/or PMHNP)
- 2-5 years APRN experience required
- Terminal degree preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, planning, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals.
- Effective project management skills; detail and deadline oriented.
