Rockhurst University’s Department of Advancement is seeking applications from the St. Louis area for our Regional Gift Officer position. The Regional Gift Officer in St. Louis, will serve the St. Louis Rockhurst community through alumni and parent engagement, philanthropic opportunities, planning events and fundraising efforts. As the Rockhurst representative in St. Louis, the advancement officer will be responsible for annual giving of mid- to major-donors, alumni engagement activities including events and Rockhurst representation at regional programs. Serving as a conduit between Rockhurst University and the alumni, friends and parents in the region, the officer will collaborate with development and alumni colleagues to reach defined advancement goals.

Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the current portfolio of donors through the stages of fundraising. A goal to have at least 25 donors active at all times based on a portfolio of 75 -100 alumni.
- Identify potential new donors to be added to the portfolio in the appropriate stage of the fundraising cycle
- Become proficient at understanding and articulating the financial needs of the university in a way that can be used to make an ask and personalize requests based on the donor’s interests.
- Lead the organization, event implementation, and logistics of the annual fundraising event(s).
- Partner with the Annual Giving team in KC to personalize any emails or direct mail solicitations being sent to the St. Louis region.
- Work with the University’s Marketing and Public Relations team to ensure adequate and timely marketing and communication for St. Louis events
- Keep current and thorough contact reports to share with the team for collaboration purposes and to post in Slate for historical purposes.
- Support the Rockhurst alumni relations team, organize, lead and motivate the St Louis Alumni Advisory Council. The Council meets quarterly and hosts bi-monthly events/programs to engage the St. Louis alumni base appropriately. The alumni team based in Kansas City will assist with the council with the St Louis advancement officer taking the lead on these events.
- Support and actively recruit members for the Rockhurst University Leadership Council. Working with the council, plan, fundraise, and implement the annual Leadership Series event.
- Actively recruit new members to take leadership roles in the Alumni Council for sustainable purposes to recommend to the alumni team.
- Team with the alumni relations team to handle program and event implementation and logistics to ensure a meaningful alumni experience
- Collaborate with the alumni team in KC to send timely and relevant emails to St. Louis community promoting programs and events in St. Louis
- Be a representative of the University at Rockhurst-hosted events and programs for alumni relations, advancement and admissions events when possible.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, non-profit management, fundraising or related field required.
- 2-3 Years of experience required.
- Strong organizational, analytical, planning, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals.
- Experience with database management, spreadsheets, CRM/Slate or fundraising software preferred.
- Effective project management skills; detail and deadline oriented.
- Must possess valid driver license and maintain a clean driving record.
