About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our client's finance team. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing accounts payable/receivable, conducting sales tax audits, and maintaining reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities:
Month-End Reporting & Reconciliation:
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
- Assist in closing the books each month and generating financial reports.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations, including inventory, fixed assets, and accruals.
- Analyze variances and provide insights into financial trends.
Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage customer invoices, collections, and cash applications.
- Work with internal teams to resolve billing and payment issues.
Sales Tax & Audits:
- Prepare and file sales tax returns in compliance with state and local regulations.
- Maintain sales tax exemption certificates and records.
- Assist in sales tax audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
- Stay updated on tax laws and regulations affecting the manufacturing industry.
General Accounting & Compliance:
- Support annual audit preparation and respond to auditor requests.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Assist in process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (SAP, NetSuite, or similar), Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reconciliations, and sales tax compliance.
- Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, analytical, and excellent problem-solving skills. Strong communication and ability to work independently.
Salary : $55,000 - $75,000
