Maintenance - Lead Electrician

POSITION TITLE:  MAINTENANCE SHOP LEAD

STATUS:   Full-Time, Regular Employee

REPORTS TO:   Maintenance Supervisor

POSITION SUMARY: Under general supervision, performs moderately complex maintenance tasks dealing with electrical services and components.    

This position works 40 hours per week 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

$23.42 per hour with standard benefits.

This position starts July 1, 2025.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

1. Maintain acceptable attendance as dictated by District/Facilities Department standard.
2. Reads and understands manufacturer's recommendations for the maintenance and repair of all District equipment and machinery.
3. Services equipment on a predetermined schedule to prevent future disruption in service and premature replacement.
4. Observes and services electrical and mechanical devices, such as, distribution panels, switchgear, pumps, generators, motors, and fire alarms while in operation and evaluate what maintenance is needed to restore equipment to operation.
5. Repairs malfunctioning parts by dismantling, removing and restoring equipment according to specifications and manuals.
6. Seeks the advice of other maintenance workers or the supervisor in order to solve the maintenance problems unique to their experiences.
7. Maintains inventory of supplies and tools for completion of jobs.
8. Inspects assigned vehicle for maintenance needs.
9. Assists fellow workers in the upkeep and repair of all district facilities.
10. All other duties as assigned.

General Maintenance – Electrical Lead

• Leads the crew by assigning work orders
• Provides leadership and direction to the crew members.
• Acts as intermediary between crew and supervisor.  
• Additional stipend per hour.

General Maintenance – Electrical Specialist

• Holds license or specific certifications for the trade.
• Provides technical support and training for other employees.
• Additional stipend per hour.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

• Assists the Lead and Supervisor in processing and completing work orders in accordance with district policies.
• Ability to complete work assignments in an effective and efficient manner.
• Ability to perform work duties in a safe manner.
• Ability to demonstrate safe work environment procedures and reinforce reasonable rules to reduce or eliminate job-related injuries.
• Have ability to work various shifts and respond to emergency calls at any time.

• Ability to drive to various sites and maintain a varied work schedule including weekends.

• Ability to repair malfunctioning parts by dismantling, removing and restoring equipment according to specifications and manuals. 
• Ability to seek the advice of other maintenance workers or the supervisor in order to solve the maintenance problems unique to their experiences.
• Ability to work within assigned buildings throughout the district and outside of buildings, including in inclement weather.
• Ability to work 30 - 50 feet from ground level.
• Ability to safely bend, twist, and lift up to 100 pounds of supplies and equipment.
• Ability to read and understand complex instructions

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:  

1. High School diploma or GED certificate.
2. Advanced training in a vocation college or trades school or graduate of certified apprenticeship program or a verifiable certificate of achievement in a relevant field preferred.
3. Valid driver's license appropriate for vehicle and ability to legally operate a district motor vehicle.
4. Two plus years of experience in maintenance work as an electrician, or allied field preferred.
5. Must be able to read blue prints, plans and specifications.
6. Knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment.
7. Physical stamina to lift heavy loads and work in both warm and cold climatic conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

• Work could be during non-traditional hours such as evenings and weekends.
• This position is very active and requires the physical ability to enable standing, walking, bending, climbing, sitting, talking, hearing, twisting, reaching, and lifting throughout each shift.
