What are the responsibilities and job description for the K1 Furnace Operator- Day Shift position at Rockwool?
We are looking for professionals to join our Byhalia, MS team as a K1 Furnace Operator. The position is scheduled from 5:00AM-5:00PM on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule.
The Furnace Operator is responsible for operating the production equipment in a safe, effective, and efficient manner according to company standards, in order to support the production of quality mineral fiber insulation products within the Company’s parameters of Material Efficiency, Time Efficiency and Linewool II.

What you bring:
- Experience in trouble shooting equipment.
- Understanding of key figures and how to maximize production output.
- 3 years machine operation/ troubleshooting experience (manufacturing preferred)
- Experience in CNC Machine or mechanical background
- Forklift Experience/ Certification
- Able to use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes, etc.
- High mechanical aptitude with experience trouble shooting equipment.
- Must be a team player.
- Drive, commitment, positive attitude, and high energy
What you will be doing:
- Run and monitor all process equipment required in the Industrial Melting Furnace (IMF) area.
- Maintain steady uninterrupted flow of melt and binder to the spinners.
- Maintain a clean safe work area, reporting any problems to management.
- Siphon poking or lancing when required, Jack out IMF siphon, man door.
- Tap hole and tapping valve lancing without damage to bottom.
- Change binder and process water filters without interruption in flow to spinner.
- Maintain clean and tidy work areas around the factory, including but are not limited to, K1 Control Room, Spinner Deck, Burner, and gutter deck, WOMA room and upstairs binder room.
- Record work you performed in the start-up checklist and hand in sheets.
