Job Title : Living History Interpreter – Governor William Blount
About Us :
Rocky Mount State Historic Site, a 50-acre Tennessee historic site and museum, served as the first capital of the Southwest Territory (1790–1792). Through educational programs, costumed interpreters, engaging events, and an on-site auditorium, we bring early American history to life. We are seeking a passionate individual to portray Governor William Blount , sharing his story year-round through living history programs and contributing to our Road to 250 initiative leading up to America’s 250th anniversary.
Position Overview :
The Living History Interpreter for Governor William Blount will bring this historical figure to life by portraying the Governor in costume at major events, educational programs, and special presentations held throughout the year. While this is not a weekly role, it is a vital position that enhances Rocky Mount’s mission to educate and engage visitors about the history of the early American frontier. By stepping into the shoes of Governor Blount, you will help connect audiences to our nation’s founding era and deepen their understanding of the Southwest Territory’s significance. This role is especially important as we build momentum for America’s 250th celebration in 2026, where Governor Blount’s story will play a pivotal part in commemorating the legacy of early Tennessee and the Southwest Territory.

Event Participation :
Portray Governor William Blount at key events throughout the year, including :
- Woolly Days : April 12th and 13th
- Independence Day Celebration : Saturday, July 5th (setting the stage for the Road to 250)
- Harvest Festival : October 4th and 5th
- Daytime Christmas Tours : November 5th–8th, 12th–15th, 19th–22nd
- Nighttime Candlelight Christmas : December 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th

Available shifts and compensation : We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $10.00 - $15.00 / hour.
