Description of the Work:
The Accounting Clerk maintains accounting records for the organization and performs clerical and accounting tasks to support RMEQ’s financial operations and ensure the accuracy of its daily accounting functions. Works closely with executive leadership, directors, and managers to ensure timely completion of finance operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Records financial transactions and maintains accurate records with well-organized supporting documentation
- Ensures financial data is entered correctly and accurately by conducting periodic internal reviews and reconciliations
- Processes accounts payable, including bill entry and payment
- Maintains vendor accounts and troubleshoots vendor issues
- Monitors credit card transactions and reimbursements
- Processes accounts receivable, including invoicing and collection
- Maintains and updates donor and grant records and accounts, and troubleshoots donor and grant payment issues
- Records deposits and ensure compliance with internal controls, ensuring appropriate authorization and approval for transactions
- Supports audit compliance and support completion of annual audit
- Manages ticketing and donation systems for campaigns and fundraising events
- Prepares internal financial reports and fulfill requests for information
- Supports the organization’s preparations for an accurate annual audit
- Processes payments from multiple sources and ensures invoices are reconciled
- Conducts monthly reconciliation with the CMS tool
- Manages hardware (Square Readers, etc.) and systems related to in person transaction processing at events including Point of Sale setup and maintenance
- Processes quarterly sales tax filing and other filings as needed
- Data analysis and manipulation, particularly import and export of data between software platforms, and troubleshooting sync issues
- Answer staff questions on financial processes and paperwork
- Learn new systems and processes, integrate with existing systems, and provide input on systems and procedures
- Other tasks as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks
- Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accrual accounting principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, basic formulas and pivot tables
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Clear oral and written communication skills
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving ability
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills and ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive experience with QuickBooks
- Experience in a 501(c)3 environment preferred
- Experience with donor databases/CRMs; Neon CRM experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information
