Position Purpose
The Training Specialist is responsible for managing the various training needs for the Community Transitions Department. Responsibilities include oversight of the department training needs including New Employee Orientation (NEO) for Care Management, Peer Support and additional roles as required. The Training Specialist will support in the creation, implementation, and organization of training materials for the Community Transitions department and will keep all materials up to date and well maintained. The Training specialist will also provide and/or coordinate additional trainings and workshops as needed for the Community Transitions Department based on need. Additionally, the training specialist will be responsible for the new hire competency evaluations process, including identifying opportunities and creating additional trainings to address needs. They will also review results of chart audits, reporting findings to Community Transitions management, and update/create additional trainings to address identified needs.
Essential Duties

Prepare NEO training and shadowing schedules for all incoming Community Transitions staff

Collaborate with department management to complete new hire training checklists, mentoring and follow up trainings

Responsible for delivery of all training materials and courses for new staff with the exception of some courses that are delivered by team subject matter expert.

Regularly request and track feedback from participants and implement when appropriate to improve program quality

Review internal audit findings to assess training gaps and needs from new and existing staff.

Responsible for organization and coordination of all staff’s State Hospital requirements

Support CT Leadership in fulfilling contractual training requirements, make recommendations as appropriate for training and system improvements and quality

Responsible for scheduling, organization and ownership of any bi-annual department meeting or ad hoc trainings required for the department

Regularly attend and participate in supervision and other meetings as directed by supervisor.

Identify and report to supervisor any team activities and issues that influence the delivery of services under the contract.

Complete all documentation as required according to contractual, organizational, and legal requirements.

Attends in-services, staffing and other meetings with supervisor’s approval. May be appointed to committees.

Participates in agency and department planning and education.

Develops and maintains records, plans and reports.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational skills, managing multiple simultaneous projects while meeting deadlines
- Ability to create training content with little direction or oversight
- Strong customer services skills including consistent follow-up and communication with stakeholders both internal and external
- Experience and working knowledge of presentation and survey tools and software
- Skilled in facilitation of content including engaging audience for long periods of time and gathering feedback
- Ability to work independently from a home office, and to travel to the RMHS office as required.
- Ability to work regular business hours as determined by the needs of the program.
- Strong communication skills with individuals served in the program, team members, colleagues, and community partners.
- Knowledge of training resources related to the behavioral health content related to the program
- Maintain strict confidentiality and fulfill requirements of HIPAA and other relevant rules and regulations.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and professional demeanor.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Understand and use a person-centered, culturally informed and trauma informed principles.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Substituting Experience for Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least 4 years of teaching, training, curriculum, and/or facilitation experience
- 2 years’ experience in training, facilitating and/or teaching small and large groups
- Experience delivering remote trainings through meeting software such as Microsoft Teams
- Experience writing and implementing curriculum for small and large groups
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft PowerPoint
- Experience with auditing and assessment monitoring, and gathering insights from reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous training experience working in behavioral healthcare setting
- Previous experience working with peer support, intakes, and/or case management
- Bilingual (Spanish)
Driving Category - Requirements
Driving Category B:
Employees who may drive RMHS or personal vehicles for business purposes. Category B employees may transport other employees but will not transport RMHS clients.
- Valid driver’s license
- Proof of motor vehicle insurance
- Personal vehicle in good operating condition for use during work, including transporting individuals
- No major violations in the past three years.
- No more than two moving violations in the past three years
- Ability to meet and maintain agency driving requirements and operate agency vehicles
- Drivers must upload proof of ongoing auto insurance every 6 months into Paycom/Relias.
- Any Accidents and/or damages while using a personal vehicle for work purposes shall be the sole responsibility of the employee. RMHS is not responsible for any damage incurred to the employee’s personal property.
