What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Public Health Crew Assistant Crew Leader position at Rocky Mountain Youth Corps?
Rocky Mountain Youth Corps (RMYC) is a nonprofit youth development organization serving New Mexico. We inspire young adults to make a positive difference in themselves and their communities. Through training and service, Corpsmembers discover their potential for healthy, productive lives.
POSITION PURPOSE:
POSITION TYPE: Seasonal Summer, AmeriCorps member, 40 hours a week,
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work hard on all projects as part of a team of two as directed by your site supervisor.
- Assist with leadership of the crew (or a portion of the crew) for project efficiency or as the need arises, under the direction and supervision of program staff. Examples include Actively participating in regular check-ins with your site supervisor and weekly check-ins with the RMYC Prevention Program Coordinator, event tabling, outreach communication, etc.
- Participate in and successfully complete all training sessions assigned.
- Work with Town of Taos Staff, and employees on designated projects assigned.
- Comply with all RMYC and AmeriCorps rules and policies and not participate in any prohibited activities as described in the Member Service Agreement.
- Provide support to and participate in coalition meetings, prevention planning, and other prevention related tasks as assigned.
- Being responsible for communicating with supervisor and notify them of any schedule changes
- Additional tasks may be assigned based on project partner needs, projects and goals
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 18-30 years of age as of May 12, 2025
- Have a High School Diploma or equivalent or agree to obtain one prior to using the Segal Education Award
- US Citizen or a Permanent Legal Resident
- Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check
- Satisfy any additional background check requirements of the placement site, including but not limited to school based fingerprinting and background checks.
- Able to complete entire length of service term (May 12th 2025- August 1st, 2025)
- Valid insurable Drivers License, and Proficient driving -passenger vehicles
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work within a team of diverse individuals
- Able to work in a supervised environment
- Be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to collect data for use by site supervisors and Project Amp and RMYC as needed and assigned
- Must be willing to and able to maintain confidentiality as it pertains to near peer mentoring and substance misuse brief intervention and other prevention work.

- Healthcare coverage is available to all AmeriCorps members at no cost to the member. This is considered primary coverage and is not available as supplemental coverage.
- RMYC observes all National holidays and are considered approved days off, however RMYC reserves the right to have AmeriCorps members work or service hours on certain holidays if necessary to meet program requirements.
