What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher position at RocSci&BuffSci Charter Schools?
We are currently searching for a confident and experienced substitute teacher to join our team. If you are a friendly and competent professional with an interest in education, then we're interested in you. Permenant Substitute Teachers are utilized by Buffalo Academy of Science to cover the classroom in the absence of the regular (full-time) Teacher. The primary role of the Substitute Teacher is to continue student learning along the continuum, established by the absent full-time teacher. A substitute teacher is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitute teachers must implement teacher lesson plans, assign student class work and homework, maintain classroom control and discipline. In some cases substitute teachers may be required to complete a daily report or evaluation to communicate any pertinent information resulting from the day's events. Substitutes must have teaching capabilities and are able to follow oral and written directions. Establishing effective working relationships with staff and students is very important.
To excel in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of effective teaching practices that ensure learning is a comfortable and meaningful experience. Our ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with a strong command of the English language.
Substitute Teacher Responsibilities:
- Adhering to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by the regular teacher.
- Following procedures and achieving lesson goals.
- Assigning and explaining homework.
- Overseeing students outside of the classroom, including in the hallways and cafeteria.
- Complying with all school regulations and policies at all times.
- Taking attendance and documenting daily notes.
- Ensuring the classroom and work stations are kept clean and orderly.
- Overseeing the normal classroom rhythms and activities.
- Compiling a report for the teacher for when they return.
