The Rodey Law Firm is seeking qualified candidates for a Payroll Specialist position to work in the Accounting Department in its Albuquerque office.
Job Description
- All aspects of payroll processing for a large firm, with multiple pay structures
- Utilizing a computerized system
- Online banking tasks – daily Positive Pay, drafting or approving wires, and uploading or approving EFT/ACH files
- Assist with Retirement Plan administrative tasks, including Federal withholding payments, and semi-monthly and quarterly reporting to third-party administrator
- Analyzing and preparing of general ledger journal entries
- Bank reconciliations – Trust and Operating Accounts
- Resolve outstanding checks
- Filing of quarterly Multiple Worksite Reports
- Complete Verification of Employment requests
- Assisting the Human Resources Director with Affordable Care Act Reporting
- Work with Human Resources on review and reconciliation of all monthly benefit billings and process through A/P
- Maintain budget and quarterly reporting of Continuing Legal Education expenses for all attorneys
- Back-up to the A/P desk when that team member is out
- Needs to be a self-starter, willing to take initiative and work as a member of a team
- Observing confidentiality in all client, administrative, department, and firm matters
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Formal secondary education in Accounting preferred
- Several years of payroll and general ledger on the job experience preferred
- Must have an adept understanding of finance policies and procedures and accounting principles
- Must be able to effectively operate office equipment including personal computer, copiers, and 10-key calculator with minimum supervision in order to carry out routine accounting duties
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently
- Ability to respond to requests requiring basic financial analysis
- Ability to maintain orderly files and records
- Ability to recognize matters which require supervisor's attention and to reliably determine urgency of matters
- Must possess interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone
- Ability to follow instruction effectively from a diverse group of attorneys, clients and staff and to provide information with professionalism, courtesy and tact
Schedule
7.5 hour shift | On-site | Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
