What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Coordinator/Staff Accountant position at Roessel Joy?
A well-established non-profit organization is seeking to hire a Payroll Coordinator/Staff Accountant. In this seat, you will be responsible for payroll processing and general accounting functions. The ideal candidate possesses intermediate excel skills and has used Paylocity and/or NetSuite (highly preferred, but not required). Hoping to get someone started in the seat as soon as possible.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in payroll processing to ensure timely compliant and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
- Prepare and maintain detailed, accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws as well as adherence to industry best practices
- Assist with the facilitation of audits by fulfilling audit requests with substantiated records and documentation
- Identify opportunities for enhancing payroll systems and procedures, recommending and implementing updates as needed
- Perform additional tasks as required to support the payroll operation
- Prepare payroll and compensation-related journal entries and accruals
- Assist in the preparation of year-end tax forms ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Collaborate with leadership and other stakeholders to effectively address and fulfill all payroll related needs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field
- 3 years’ related experience required, including payroll processing
- Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, including: Payroll tax return and general ledger reconciliations, Payroll internal controls, Benefit taxation implications and reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel (Pivot tables and V-lookups)
Salary : $24 - $32
