Rogers Group is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented PROJECT ENGINEER to join our team in the aggregate mining industry. This position is located at our corporate office in Nashville, TN. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager or Director of Engineering. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the planning, design, and execution of projects aimed at optimizing operations and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Job Summary :
The Project Engineer role is to support the mechanical and civil design, planning, and execution of complex projects in the aggregate mining industry. This technical role is integral to ensuring the optimization of plant operations, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with environmental regulations. The position begins with a structured training program to immerse the engineer in the company's safety standards, aggregate production workflows, and the structural and mechanical design of processing facilities. Upon completing the training, responsibilities expand to include preparing project proposals, developing comprehensive cost estimates, creating detailed design plans using CAD software, and drafting schedules for facility upgrades and retrofits. The role involves technical analysis of production processes to identify inefficiencies, utilizing tools such as AggFlow to model process enhancements. Collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams—including external engineering consultants, fabrication specialists, and construction contractors—is key to delivering successful projects. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to the structural and mechanical design of plant systems, aligning production capabilities with operational goals while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities :
- Learn and integrate the company's safety culture, aggregate mining processes, and production facility operations during the initial training period (approximately six weeks).
- Prepare project proposals, cost estimates, detailed designs, and schedules for upgrade and replacement projects at aggregate and asphalt plants.
- Assist in project planning, permitting, cost estimation, and drafting detailed designs for plant retrofits and modifications.
- Coordinate with external engineering firms, fabrication teams, and contractors to ensure project completion within scope, budget, and timeline.
- Perform production process analysis using tools like AggFlow to identify bottlenecks and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Provide technical support for and create detailed drawings for structural, civil, and mechanical designs of aggregate processing plants.
- Assist in the alignment of production needs with plant capacities through thoughtful design and analysis.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including design drawings, reports, budgets, and proposals.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, company executives, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
