Description

The mid-level Mechanical Engineer will assist in coordinating the HVAC systems with team members during all phases of the design delivery and construction processes. This position reports directly to the Director of Mechanical Engineering.

 

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments.
  • Supervise the work of other engineers and designers as required on a project basis.
  • Be responsible for creating HVAC (including source equipment, ductwork and piping distribution systems, and associated controls and accessories) design documents for construction including but not limited to drawings, calculations, specifications, and narratives/reports.
  • Provide consulting services, including preparation of due diligence reports, gap analyses, and feasibility reports.
  • Coordinate with design teams, owners, contractors, reviewers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Apply design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects.
  • Perform a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard engineering techniques for small projects or selected segments of a larger project.
  • Prepare detailed drawings of engineering designs and plans for buildings and structures according to specifications provided by tenured Mechanical team members. 
  • Consult with senior engineers or designers concerning unusual problems and developments. 
  • May oversee, coordinate, and review work of junior designers on a project basis.
  • Assist in field investigations as required to validate existing site and building conditions under the review and certification of a licensed Engineer.
  • Complete engineering related activities throughout all phases of the design delivery process including but not limited to reviewing shop drawings, responding to requests for information (RFIs), and conducting site observation during the construction administration phase of the project under the review and certification of a licensed Engineer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure is preferred.
  • Sustainability credentialing (LEEP AP, Green Globes, etc.) is preferred.
  • Ability to take direction and work self-sufficiently.
  • Capable of independent decision-making.
  • Passion for the profession and built environment.
  • An eye for detail and able to translate ideas into reality.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE/NFPA/IBC/FBC/UFC code requirements.
  • Healthcare experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, client service and communications skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit. Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Experience with Integrated Environmental Solutions’ Virtual Environment (IESVE) and/or Trane Trace 700 load calculation software.
  • Experience with any of the State of Florida approved energy compliance software (IESVE, EnergyGauge Summit, ComCheck) packages is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • To comply with US federal government requirements, US citizenship is required for this position.

Amount of Travel Required:

This position will require occasional travel, some of which may be international.
