Job Summary
A part of the leadership team, handling various legal topics (including labor, real estate, immigration, intellectual property, etc.).
Essential Job Duties
- Drafts and negotiates contractual agreements, such as real estate leases and advising on employment matters
- Expert in contract reviews. Ability to spot issues and risks in contracts
- Oversees compliance outside of healthcare
- Manages intellectual property and copyrights
- Manages risk management and insurance (liability, property), partner with Controller
- Develops the organization's policies on industry-specific issues or regulatory affairs
- Trusted advisor to the business
- Assists business to develop and implement processes, procedures, and systems to promote risk avoidance and prevent litigation
- Coordinates with outside counsel to assure they represent the company’s best interest
- Works closely with other departments within the company on various issues
- Industry lobbyist/advocate
- Bachelor and Juris Doctorate (JD) degrees (engineering degree preferred)
- Admitted to Oregon or Washington State Bar
- Membership in good standing of State Bar
- 5-7 years of legal experience (preferably in trial and/or litigation)
- Excellent communication (written and verbal)
- Collaborative with leaders and teams
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
