OVERVIEW
The Used Vehicle Technician plays a key role in inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing pre-owned vehicles to meet dealership and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure our customers receive reliable, high-quality used vehicles in a timely manner.
- Perform multi-point inspections to assess the condition of pre-owned vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and engine issues.
- Conduct brake, suspension, steering, and drivetrain repairs.
- Perform HVAC, cooling system, and general maintenance services.
- Road-test vehicles when done to ensure quality repair.
- Ensure all work meets manufacturer and dealership standards.
- Keep accurate records of inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
- Work collaboratively with Used Car Reconditioning Manager and other technicians.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Experience in vehicle diagnostics and repair.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced dealership environment.
- Positive attitude and great customer service.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
- Good judgment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Dealertrack DMS knowledge helpful.
- Experience with industry-specific software.
- ASE certification preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a physically demanding position. The Used Vehicle Technician will stand six to eight hours per shift, lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds several times during each shift, and use hoist and test equipment as needed. They will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel and will use hand and power tools. They will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Road-testing of vehicles may be required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
