Objective and Purpose
The Outreach Specialist's focus is to locate and engage unhoused individuals and families and connect them to services at Rogue Retreat and other resources in the community. They will work closely with the community outreach team to collaborate and collectively assess the best placement for each individual that may be eligible for housing or shelter services, in a community wrap-around approach. The outreach specialist will attend regular community partner meetings and outreach efforts. The Outreach Specialist may administer special programs as grant funding allows. This role requires driving a Rogue Retreat company vehicle or possibly the use of your own vehicle for transportation to and from various outreach sites.
Qualifications
1. Current valid Oregon driver’s license with clean DMV record for insurance on commercial auto policy.
2. Reliable and well-maintained vehicle suitable for transportation to various locations.
3. Based on business necessity and the population we serve, if you have a substance use disorder (addiction) you must have at least two (2) years clean since your last use.
4. You must be able to successfully complete a UA and adhere to Rogue Retreat’s Drug & Alcohol policy.
5. Exhibit advanced knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google products.
6. Experience in entering data into complex database systems.
7. Exhibit strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with data.
8. Exhibit good written and verbal communications skills.
9. Exhibit discipline for personal time management and record keeping.
10. Be able to carry out responsibilities without supervision.
11. Knowledge or prior experience of homelessness, mental health issues, addiction issues.
12. Ability to bend, twist and lift or carry up to 20 lbs. as needed to set up for community events.
13. Willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather and remote areas.
Required Education, License or Certification
1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Peer Support Specialist training and certification within 6 months of hiring date

Essential Functions
1. Provides outreach services at external locations and events in a team of at least two.
2. Initiates contact with unhoused individuals at various sites, including unhoused encampments for the purpose of helping connect individuals to shelter and other resources.
3. May drive own vehicle or company vehicle (depending upon availability) to various sites to provide outreach services, tracking mileage for reimbursement and reporting.
4. May transport clients in company vehicle to assist with obtaining services.
5. Assist individuals with applying for applicable benefits and securing identification documents to become rent ready.
6. Assist individuals with housing and shelter applications.
7. Assist individuals with applying for and/or obtain resources.
8. Maintains complete client records clearly and accurately and produces other reports as directed.
9. Turns in all paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
10. Administers special resources as grants allow, including tracking and reporting outcomes.
11. Participates in appropriate workshops, trainings and meetings as directed.
Working Conditions/Equipment
Depending on the work assignment, the physical environment requires the employee to work both inside in a temperature-controlled environment and/or outside in an environment with temperature extremes of hot and cold. The work environment requires the ability to handle detailed verbal and written, personal information, numbers and data with accuracy in an environment that has changing priorities and disruptions throughout the day. The position utilizes a computer. May be requested to work overtime due to client emergencies that may arise.
