The Bar Manager is responsible for the training and supervision of bartenders and supports superior operations and guest service. You will be accountable for meeting budgeted financial goals including but not limited to bar labor cost, guest satisfaction metrics, and meeting all service standards. Maintaining a perfectly clean, sanitary and inviting guest environment will be a top priority. This is a full-time supervisory position and reports to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager and requires 1-2 years restaurant bar supervisory experience. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Create, lead, and manage a positive and fun bar and restaurant culture.
  • Increase sales by ensuring guest satisfaction and prompt problem resolution.
  • Lead, manage, and deliver a friendly Guest Focused experience.
  • Maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the restaurant.
  • Oversee and supervise staff to control Liquor, Beverage and Wine (LBW) cost by measuring pours, following recipes, and ringing in all drinks poured.
  • Ensure that bar supplies and product are properly ordered, handled, stored, labeled, dated, and rotated.
  • Establish and enforce weekly cleaning lists, or any management assigned lists, to maintain the bar area in good repair and for cleanliness.
  • Maintain all equipment in good clean working condition.
  • Learn and maintain proper food, liquor, beer, and wine menu knowledge.
  • Ensure operational and occupational health and safety standards are in place and followed.
  • Maintains appropriate security protocols for guest, employee, and restaurant safety.
  • Other duties as required.

  

Qualifications:

 

  • 1-2 years of progressive supervisory experience in a full-service bar.
  • Have good sense of judgment and integrity to make tough decisions regarding alcohol service.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to direct, coach and supervise a team.
  • Knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel) and Point of Sale system.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours during evening, weekends and holidays.
  • Strong analytical/decision-making skills.
  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency and command presence management style.
  • Strong business acumen, including an understanding of budgets and operating costs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
  • Customer service skills – able to exceed guest expectations.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • You must be able to perform efficiently during high volume peak periods.
  • Knowledge of liquor, beer and wine, food and beverage menus, food preparation and presentation.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, bend, crouch/stoop, twist and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Stand and walk up to 8 hours per day. 
  • Have a high level of energy and physical stamina.
  • Exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the restaurant, kitchen and bar areas on a timely basis.
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by restaurant/hotel environmental systems.
  • Lift up to 30 lbs. above eye level and balance a food tray.
  • Carry and balance a beverage tray.
  • Lift up to 40 lbs. intermittently during workday.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
