JOB SUMMARY: The Hockey Instructor is a part-time position working directly under the supervision of the Supervisor-Youth Hockey Operations. The Hockey Instructor assists in hockey classes, clinics and camps and is responsible for a variety of duties including maintaining good communication with parents, supervision, and leadership of their camp group and weekly preparations. This is an at-will position. Primary duties include:
- Responsible for the leadership of a group of 5 - 15 children, in all class, clinic and/or camp activities and events including on-ice time.
- Required to participate in all planned activities on a daily basis.
- Cooperate with co-workers and administrative staff.
- Participate in a written evaluation of his or her work during the middle and end of the camp season.
- Complete all necessary forms as needed.
- Insure the safety of campers at all times and follow up on all accident and situation reports. Turns in all reports to Site Directors.
- Maintain good communication with parents and keep them informed of activities and child's progress.
- Adhere to general rules and policies of the Rolling Meadows Park District.
- Assist supervisor in all aspects of camp planning.
- Maintain cleanliness of rink/ice/locker room site.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- It is the responsibility of all Park District employees to pick up litter throughout the building, grounds, and facilities of the District.
- Staff is expected to help with the successful implementation of programs, parks, and services across program areas and between departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates must be at least 15 years of age and should have:
- Excellent skills and experience supervising children.
- Be reliable, show initiative, possess flexibility, and open to constructive criticism.
- Possess the knowledge and skills of planning, organizing and leading activities.
- Able to recognize behavioral concerns and help foster them into a positive experience.
- Able to communicate with parents, children and co-workers and to respond tactfully to their concerns.
- Able to complete camp training, CPR certification, and any other required trainings.
SCHEDULE & PAY:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Schedule and hours vary depending on the needs of the classes and season. Starting pay begins at $14 per hour, dependent upon qualifications. Plus applicable facility and program discounts.
