Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Yard Driver to join our logistics team. The Yard Driver will be responsible for maneuvering trucks and trailers within the yard, ensuring efficient loading and unloading of freight. This role requires a strong understanding of various truck types and driving conditions, as well as a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate yard trucks to move trailers in and out of loading docks.
- Perform inspections on trucks and trailers before and after use to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of freight, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Maintain accurate records of movements, including trailer locations and cargo details.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to coordinate timely deliveries and pickups.
- Operate forklifts as needed for loading/unloading tasks.
- Adhere to all safety protocols while driving within the yard and handling freight.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving, particularly with various types of trailers including refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, and tankers.
- Proficient in operating manual transmission vehicles.
- Familiarity with freight handling procedures and delivery driver responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail for conducting vehicle inspections and maintaining records.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
