Yard Driver - Shipping & Receiving

JOB OVERVIEW

·         A valued team member of our Operations team. 

·         This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 5:45 am to 5 pm.

·         This position is paid hourly and eligible for overtime pay. 

·         No travel is expected for this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safe

1.        Always adhere to the yard rules of operation.

2.       Operate all machines in accordance with UTD, OSHA, DOT, and specific product procedures and recommendations.

3.       Be on time and in compliance with the company Handbook.

Right

1.        Operate company-owned and leased trucks to set trailers on company property to have all dollied trailers weighed prior to driver appointment.

2.       Properly complete daily paperwork associated with loading and unloading trucks (half

pack sheets, sign off on loads, and proper counts).

3.       Load and unload wood daily according to order details and notes while taking care of it to prevent any damage. 

4.       Provide outstanding customer service to our team and outside drivers on Company property.

5.       Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition.

Fast

1.        Unload and tag wood properly on inbound loads. 

2.       Complete trailer inspections in accordance with DOT regulations when hooking to any dollied trailer.

Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve overall team operations.

REQUIREMENTS:

1.        Must have a valid driver’s license.

6.       Have a UTD forklift certification, forklift permit, or the ability to demonstrate safe handling of a forklift in an on-site test is preferred. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1.        Requires prolonged sitting, driving, talking on a hands-free device, truck vibration, and MHE (material handling equipment) operations.

2.       Must be able to strap and tarp loads which may require climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, walking, and lifting.

3.       Must be able to work and drive in severe weather conditions; heat and cold; snow and rain; wet or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles.

4.       Must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 60 pounds or more.
