Work with us and we’ll welcome you into an inclusive culture, one that invests in your continuous learning and development, and gives you access to a wide breadth and depth of experience You will be responsible for ensuring that the business complies with its complex legal and regulatory obligations, structuring and documenting complex transactions (often cross-border and usually high-value), and ensuring that business decisions are informed by an understanding of legal risk. What you will be doing You will be reporting to Assistant General Counsel – Defence, you will lead the provision of legal advice across a hugely diverse range of matters across the Defence business. You will: Work with other advisers within the General Counsel function (Commercial, Export Control, Compliance, Intellectual Property) to provide integrated, pragmatic solutions for the management of legal risk. Provide high quality drafting and advice to support contract placement and amendment. Support complex contract negotiations with customers, governments and suppliers. Deliver strategic input to shape the transactions that will enable our customers to perform their vital missions. Understand the competing commercial and regulatory drivers as the business develops novel technologies across the evolving global defence market, and help the business succeed in those markets. Ensure the business receives high-quality advice about its legal obligations relating to product safety. At least 2 years post qualification experience in private practice or relevant in-house role(s) Strong academics Candidates should have strong technical and problem-solving skills, demonstrate personal drive, excellent communication and presentation skills, and will need to contribute effectively to a team environment.
