The Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Maintenance Technician/Custodian for St. Bernard Catholic Church in Riverdale, MD
Full-time 30 hours week
The Maintenance Technician/Custodian will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of parish/school buildings and grounds and will report to the Pastor.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Basic maintenance and repair work for parish and school buildings
- Conduct routine maintenance on equipment and mechanical equipment such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, tools and supplies
- Basic grounds maintenance such as mowing, raking, watering and ice and snow removal
- Perform cleaning, facility set-up, hauling and moving of equipment
- Trash removal from the parish and school buildings and grounds
- Effectively communicate with Pastor and staff on any maintenance issues as directed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to perform multiple tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lift 30 – 40 pounds consistently
- Committed to excellence in following Archdiocesan policies, procedures, standards and legal requirements
- Must be self-motivated and responsible, ability to work with minimal supervision
Requirements:
- Minimum 1-2 years prior professional experience in building and grounds maintenance work and working with industrial strength cleaning chemicals
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent
- Bilingual Spanish & English preferred
