The Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Parish Secretary for St. Bernard Catholic Church in Riverdale, MD
Full-time 30 hours week, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
The Parish Secretary reports to and performs general secretarial support for the Pastor.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greets and meets visitors
- Manage telephone calls
- Prepares regular and bulk mailing
- Screen and distribute mail and other related material
- Manages office inventory of general supplies
- Maintains records for the office (e.g. directory, mailing list, events calendar, check requests, etc.)
- Manages parish database & office calendar
- Translate information for the community to be informed
- Coordinates and schedules volunteers in the office
- Manages parish website and social media outlets
- Oversees parish bulletin, create digital flyers for parish events
- Opens and closes the office
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to type 50 wpm
- Effective team player with strong organizational & interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Publisher) required and knowledge of Parish Soft software a plus
- Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
Requirements
- High School diploma required
- 3 to 5 years’ administrative experience required
- Must be a practicing Catholic
