The Rome City School District is looking for a caring and dependable individual to join our team as a 1:1 Teacher Aide! In this role, you will provide direct support to an individual student while also assisting teachers and administrators with a variety of classroom and non-instructional duties that help create a positive and productive learning environment.
This is a 10-month position, working 7 hours per day, with a competitive salary.
As a 1:1 Teacher Aide, you will play a key role in helping a student successfully navigate the school day by offering consistent guidance, supervision, and encouragement. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with daily attendance, light clerical work, and supervision during non-instructional times such as lunch, recess, and bus transitions.
Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a strong ability to build supportive relationships with students, and the flexibility to meet individual needs in a school setting. Experience in education or working with children is a plus.

TEACHER AIDE
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Assists school teachers and administrators in the performance of teaching and non-teaching functions by performing varied operational duties associated with the teaching process within the building setting. Does related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This title is employed for positions which are created for the main purpose of relieving school personnel, assisting teachers and administrators of that part of their duties, which while related to the teaching process, can be performed by non-professional personnel.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)
· Assists with daily attendance;
· Assists with general library functions;
· Performs simple clerical duties – may include phone calls;
· Supervises in-school suspension, time-out and lunch detention.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL
CHARACTERISTICS:
· Good general intelligence;
· Ability to establish good relationships with children and others;
· Familiarity with classroom and/or library routine;
· Good background or knowledge in specific field where specialized duties are involved;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
(a) Graduation from high school, supplemented by additional experience and knowledge in a particular field where specialized duties are involved; OR
(b) Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
